PFT Calculator – Score the Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test
Score your Marine Corps PFT on the official MCO 6100.13A charts for your age group and sex — points for every event, your class, and a pass or fail on each line.

Your age group and your three results
Who is being scored?
Upper body — your choice of event
Pull-ups are the only route to 100 points on this event — and the only way a 300 total exists.
Core
One table for every Marine — the plank is sex- and age-neutral (Table 2-4).
Aerobic — run or row
Three measured miles, as fast as you can — the standard aerobic event for every Marine.
Leave any event blank and it simply shows as not tested — the total waits until all three are in, exactly like a real scorecard. Times go in as minutes and seconds, like 2:30 or 21:00.
Scoring the Combat Fitness Test instead? The CFT is a separate test — movement to contact, ammo-can lifts and the maneuver under fire — with its own tables in the same order. This page scores the PFT only.
🔒 Everything is calculated in your browser — nothing you type leaves your device.
Your scorecard
The dark tick on every bar is that event’s minimum line — 40 points on most lines, 60 on the women’s pull-up line. Points come straight from the table — nothing is rounded up and nothing is interpolated between rows.
Enter your three results and get the score the official chart gives you — points for every event, your PFT class, and a pass or fail on each line. Scored from the tables of Marine Corps Order 6100.13A for your age group and sex: pull-ups or push-ups, the plank, and the 3-mile run — or the 5,000 m row if the row is your aerobic event.
Key takeaways
- A pass needs 150 points in total and the minimum in every event — the three minimums on their own add up to only 120, so a surplus has to be earned somewhere.
- Pull-ups are the only route to 100 points on the upper-body event. Push-ups cap at 70, so the best total reachable on push-ups is 270 — a 300 requires pull-ups.
- The plank is scored on one sex- and age-neutral table: 3:45 earns 100 points and 1:10 earns the 40-point minimum, for every Marine.
Three lines between you and your class
The scorecard above, drawn the way the grader reads it. No event can rescue another — each line stands on its own, and the total only counts once all three stand up.
Read the bars against the dark tick — that is each event’s minimum line, and clearing it three times is only half the test: the three minimums on their own add up to 120 points, and a pass needs 150. The other 30 points have to be earned somewhere, which is why the order warns that minimum performance in every event will not reach a passing score.

How it works in three steps
Pick your column of the chart
The PFT tables are normed by age and sex, so the same performance earns different points in different columns. Choose your sex and age group — together they pick the exact column of Tables 2-2, 2-5 and 2-7 the grader would use. The plank needs no column: one table covers everyone.
Enter the three raw results
Reps for the upper-body event — pull-ups, or push-ups inside two minutes — a hold time for the plank, and a time for the run or the row. Blank events are not zeros: leave one out and the page holds your total until the scorecard is complete.
Read the rows, then the verdict
Each result is matched against the chart: the highest row your performance meets is your score, with a pass badge at that event’s minimum line and the next row shown, so you can see what one more rep or one less second buys. The total then lands in the classification bands of Table 2-1.
The default scorecard, worked through
The pull-ups set the tone — 15 reps earn 73 points: in the men’s 21–25 column of Table 2-2, the 73-point row asks exactly 15 reps. The next row up is 16 reps, worth 77 — this column of the pull-up table moves in steps of three and four points per rep, so every rep is worth real money, and the famous rows frame the whole scale: 23 reps earn the full 100, 5 reps earn the 40-point minimum.
The plank pays a second at a time — 2:30 earns 70: the 70-point row of Table 2-4 asks 2:28, so a 2:30 hold clears it with two seconds to spare, and 2:31 would earn 71. The plank is the one event with nothing to pick: the table is sex- and age-neutral, the same 61 rows for a 17-year-old and a 51-year-old, topping out at 3:45 for 100 and bottoming at 1:10 for the 40-point minimum.
The run closes it out — 21:00 earns 81: the 81-point row of the men’s 21–25 run table allows a slowest time of 21:00; run 20:50 and the same legs earn 82. Run tables move in 10-second bands, and a few point levels have no row of their own in a given column — at 20:25 this column pays 84, because the 85-point row simply is not printed for 17-to-25-year-old men.
The verdict — 73 + 70 + 81 = 224: every event is clear of its minimum, and the total sits inside the 200 to 234 band of Table 2-1, so the scorecard reads 2nd Class. Eleven more points anywhere — four more pull-ups (19 reps earns 87), or a run 1:40 faster (19:20 earns 92) — would tip it into 1st Class at 235.
The full PFT scoring tables
Every row of the charts the calculator scores from — Tables 2-2, 2-4, 2-5 and 2-7 of Marine Corps Order 6100.13A (through Change 5), verified against the order in October 2026. Find your points in the first column, then read across to your age group: the cell is the performance that earns exactly those points. Points are never interpolated — a performance between two rows earns the lower row, the same way the calculator scores it.
A dash (—) means the order prints no row for that point level in that column. This happens in the run tables for the youngest groups, where the scale steps from 86 straight to 84 points — there is no 85-point row to earn. The altitude tables (2-6 for the run, 2-8 for the row, for tests at 4,500 feet or more above sea level) are not reproduced here and are not applied by the calculator.
PFT classification — Table 2-1
The classification bands are the same for every age group and both sexes — Table 2-1 shows the scores required “for all age groups.” Two standing exceptions sit outside the table: recruits are scored on the 17–20 age group whatever their age, and from 1 January 2026 Marines in combat arms occupations are scored on the male tables regardless of sex and must reach at least 210 points (MARADMIN 613/25).
| Class | Total points | Age groups | Sex | What else must hold |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1st Class | 235–300 | All eight groups | Both | The minimum met in every event |
| 2nd Class | 200–234 | All eight groups | Both | The minimum met in every event |
| 3rd Class | 150–199 | All eight groups | Both | The minimum met in every event — the lowest passing class |
| Fail | Below 150 | All eight groups | Both | Also a fail at any total if one event falls below its minimum |

The other half of the year: the Combat Fitness Test
This page scores the PFT only. The Marine Corps fitness year has a second test — the Combat Fitness Test (CFT), covered in Chapter 3 of the same order — and confusing the two is the most common scoring mistake after the push-up cap.
The PFT is conducted in the first half of the year and the CFT in the second half. Where the PFT measures baseline fitness, the CFT measures combat readiness — agility, coordination and anaerobic capacity — through three different events. The movement to contact is an 880-yard run on level ground, in boots and the utility uniform. The ammo can lift is two minutes of lifting a 30-pound ammunition can from shoulder height to overhead, scored on repetitions. The maneuver under fire is a 300-yard course combining sprints and crawls with a buddy drag and carry, an ammunition resupply and a grenade throw.
The scoring frame will look familiar: each CFT event is worth up to 100 points, the total runs to 300, and the classification bands of Table 3-2 are identical to the PFT — 1st Class is 235 to 300, 2nd Class is 200 to 234 and 3rd Class is 150 to 199. The same hard rule applies: the minimum must be met in every event, and failure in any one event fails the entire test, whatever the total. What does not carry across is the performance tables themselves — the CFT has its own age- and sex-normed charts (Tables 3-3 through 3-7, with altitude versions of two events), and no PFT performance converts into a CFT score. Score a CFT with the CFT tables, and treat any combined “PFT and CFT” number with suspicion.
Going deeper
The order is blunt about it. Paragraph 6 of the PFT chapter: “The minimum combined score required to pass the PFT is 150. The minimum performance in each PFT event will not achieve the overall points required for a passing score. Additional points must be earned in at least one event in order to achieve a 3rd class score. Failure to meet the minimum requirements in any one event constitutes a failure of the entire test, regardless of the total number of points earned.”
Both halves of that bite. A Marine who maxes two events and falls one rep short of the minimum in the third has failed, at a total most Marines would envy. And a Marine who does exactly the minimum everywhere has also failed — 40 + 40 + 40 is 120, thirty points short. Even the women’s pull-up line, whose minimum is a generous 60, only lifts the floor to 140. Passing requires a genuine surplus somewhere: the test is designed so that competence everywhere plus strength somewhere is the cheapest way through.
The upper-body event is a choice, declared before the test: pull-ups or push-ups, never a blend — the order states the two scores cannot be combined. It then prices the choice openly. “All Marines should be encouraged to do pull-ups as this is a better field test of dynamic upper body strength. Additionally, maximum points on the hybrid pull-up/push-up test can only be earned by doing pull-ups.” The push-up table’s own header prints the price: Max Pts 70, for every age group and both sexes. A perfect push-up performance — 87 reps for a young man, 50 for a woman of 26–30 — earns 70, and the highest total a push-up Marine can post is 270.
The women’s pull-up table runs the other way, and surprises people: it is printed on a 60-to-100 scale. The minimum row is worth 60 points, not 40 — but the rep count that earns it is real work, rising to 4 reps at ages 26–30, and below that count the event scores nothing at all. Twelve reps earns the full 100 at 26–30; at 17–20 it takes only 7. It is the steepest small table in the order, and the reason many women weigh the choice carefully: one rep is worth 60 points, zero reps is a failed event.
Upper body (Table 2-2) — repetitions. Pull-ups score to 100, push-ups to a capped 70. The women’s pull-up minimum earns 60 points, every other minimum 40.

Plank (Table 2-4) — one row for everyone: 3:45 earns 100 points and 1:10 earns 40, the minimum, whatever your age or sex.
The 40-point floor: why one weak event fails the test
The Marine Corps PFT has a rule that surprises civilians: a total in the passing range still fails if any single event falls below its minimum. Each of the three events — upper body, plank, and the 3-mile run — must score at least 40 points, and the total must reach the passing threshold. A Marine who maxes two events and scores 30 on the third has not passed with a high total; the test is failed, because the floor is per-event, not just total.
The floor is what makes the PFT a general fitness test rather than a specialist one. It refuses to let a fast run rescue a failing plank, or a strong upper body rescue a slow run. Training follows the same logic: the event nearest the floor deserves the training time, because raising it from 35 to 45 changes the outcome from fail to pass, while raising a strong event from 85 to 95 changes nothing about the verdict.
Push-ups vs pull-ups: the 70-point ceiling decision
The upper-body event offers a choice with a built-in cost. Pull-ups score up to 100 points. Push-ups, the alternative, cap the event at 70 points, which caps the whole PFT at 270 and puts a perfect 300 out of reach. The choice is therefore not about which exercise is easier in the gym; it is about how many points the event can ever be worth.
USMC PFT structure, MCO 6100.13A tables as used by the calculator. Plank scoring is gender-neutral: 3:45 for 100 points, 1:10 for the 40-point minimum.
| Event | Maximum | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| Pull-ups | 100 points | Only route to a 300 total |
| Push-ups | 70 points | Caps the PFT at 270 |
| Plank | 100 points | Gender-neutral table |
| 3-mile run | 100 points | Scored by age and sex |
A Marine who can do enough pull-ups to beat 70 points should choose pull-ups, because every point above 70 is a point push-ups cannot give. A Marine who cannot reach 70 points on pull-ups but can on push-ups should choose push-ups, because points banked beat points theoretically available. The calculator scores both, so the decision can be made on numbers rather than on gym pride.
Frequently asked questions
What is a passing PFT score?
A combined 150 points or more, with the minimum met in every event. The classification table (MCO 6100.13A, Table 2-1) runs the same for all age groups: 1st Class is 235 to 300, 2nd Class is 200 to 234 and 3rd Class is 150 to 199. The order adds that the minimum combined score required to pass the PFT is 150, and that failing to meet the minimum in any one event fails the entire test, regardless of the total.
Why do push-ups cap at 70 points?
Because the hybrid upper-body table is printed that way. Table 2-2 gives push-ups a maximum of 70 points (the header reads Max Pts 70) for both sexes and every age group, while pull-ups run to 100. The order explains that maximum points on the hybrid test can only be earned by doing pull-ups — so the best possible total on push-ups is 270, and a 300 requires pull-ups.
Is the plank scored the same for everyone?
Yes. Table 2-4 is a single sex- and age-neutral table: 3:45 earns 100 points and 1:10 earns the 40-point minimum, for every Marine. The plank replaced the abdominal crunch as the core event; the crunch was discontinued on 31 December 2022.
How are women scored on pull-ups?
On a 60-to-100 scale. The women’s pull-up table prints a minimum of 60 points: the first scoring rep count — 1 rep at ages 17-20, then 3, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2 and 2 across the older groups — earns 60, and the maximum runs from 7 reps at 17-20 to 12 at 26-30 for 100. Below the minimum rep count no points are earned and the event is failed.
Who can row 5,000 m instead of running?
Marines aged 46 and older may choose the row freely. Younger Marines may row only when a privileged health care provider recommends it for a medical condition (or post-partum) and the commanding officer approves. The row is scored on Table 2-7, included here; separate altitude tables exist for tests run at 4,500 feet or higher and are not applied by this calculator.
What changed for combat arms Marines in 2026?
From 1 January 2026 (MARADMIN 613/25), Marines in combat arms occupations are scored on the male, age-normed tables regardless of sex, and must reach at least 210 of the 300 points. Everyone else continues on the age- and sex-normed tables in this calculator — and the male columns here are exactly the tables the combat arms standard uses.
When is the PFT taken, and when is the CFT?
The two tests split the Marine Corps fitness year. The PFT is conducted in the first half of the year, from 1 January to 30 June, and the Combat Fitness Test (CFT) in the second half, from 1 July to 31 December. Both are annual requirements, and each is scored on its own tables in MCO 6100.13A — the PFT in Chapter 2 and the CFT in Chapter 3.
How many pull-ups do I need to score 100 points?
It depends on your age group and sex, from Table 2-2. Men need 20 reps at 17–20, 23 at 21–25, 26–30 and 31–35, 21 at 36–40, 20 at 41–45, 19 at 46–50 and 18 at 51 and over. Women need 7 at 17–20, 11 at 21–25, 12 at 26–30, 11 at 31–35, 10 at 36–40, 8 at 41–45, 6 at 46–50 and 4 at 51 and over. The full pull-up tables are in the scoring tables section of this page.
What is a good PFT score?
The order does not print a ‘good’ label — it prints classes. A total of 235 to 300 is 1st Class, 200 to 234 is 2nd Class and 150 to 199 is 3rd Class, and every class also requires the minimum in each event. Marines in combat arms occupations must reach at least 210 from 1 January 2026 under MARADMIN 613/25. Anything below 150 in total, or below the minimum in any single event, is a failed PFT.
Does this calculator use the altitude scoring tables?
No. The order prints separate altitude tables — Table 2-6 for the run and Table 2-8 for the row — for tests conducted at 4,500 feet or more above sea level, and this calculator does not apply them. If you tested at altitude, your official scorecard may differ from the score shown here; the unit scorecard recorded through Marine Online is the record that counts.
Can I pass the PFT with a high total but one weak event?
No. Each event must score at least 40 points. A total in the passing range still fails if any single event falls below its minimum, because the floor is per-event, not just total.
Why do push-ups cap at 70 points?
Push-ups are the alternative upper-body event, and their table tops out at 70 points, which caps the whole PFT at 270. A perfect 300 requires pull-ups, the only upper-body event scored to 100.
Is the plank scored the same for everyone?
Yes. The plank is gender-neutral: 3 minutes 45 seconds earns 100 points and 1 minute 10 seconds is the 40-point minimum, on one table for every Marine.
